Camera privacy and audio

How to Turn Off Audio Recording on eufy Cameras

On supported eufy models, open that camera’s settings and look under Audio Settings for Audio Recording, then switch it off. eufy documents this control for specific Indoor Cam and Outdoor Cam models; menus and behavior vary, so confirm it on your exact model and check a new saved clip. Muting sound in live view is a separate control and does not by itself confirm that recorded clips have no audio.

Three audio controls with different jobs

Before changing a setting, decide whether you want to stop audio from being saved with clips, stop hearing a live feed on your phone, or stop sending your voice to the camera. These actions can use different controls. The table is a practical check list, not a claim that every eufy camera exposes all three.

Control to look forWhat it changesWhat to verify
Audio Recording / MicrophoneOn listed models, this setting controls audio captured with camera recordings.Turn it off, then inspect a newly recorded event. Do not infer that old clips were changed.
Live-view speaker / audio outputControls whether your phone plays sound from the live feed.Check the speaker icon while viewing live video. A muted phone feed is not proof that recording audio is disabled.
Phone microphone permission / talk buttonCan affect your phone sending speech to a camera during two-way talk.Test talk separately if you use it. It is not the camera’s recording-audio setting.

eufy’s Indoor Cam 2K and Outdoor Cam support pages describe an Audio Recording switch under Camera Settings > Audio Settings. A separate eufy doorbell troubleshooting guide also points to Audio Recording for receiving sound and to phone microphone permission for two-way talk. These are model-specific instructions; another camera may use a different label or omit a control.

Check the setting and test a fresh clip

  1. Identify the camera. Record its product name and model number from the device details or label. Do not rely on a broad family name alone.
  2. Open that device’s settings. In the eufy Security app, choose the camera, open its settings, and look for Audio Settings. If you do not see Audio Recording, consult that model’s manual or support page instead of assuming the control exists.
  3. Switch off Audio Recording. Read the on-screen label carefully; live-view speaker output and the camera microphone may appear in the same menu but serve different purposes.
  4. Make a controlled new event. From a safe, non-private location, create a short test clip while speaking near the camera, then play it back. Avoid recording other people for this check.
  5. Record the result and recheck later. Note the model, app version, setting label, date, and whether the new clip contains sound. Recheck after an app, firmware, or device change if audio privacy matters.

Keep this with your device notes. A screenshot of the selected setting and a separate playback check answer different questions: one records the configuration, the other checks what a new clip contains.

The Audio Recording option is missingLook up the exact model’s support page or manual. The cited instructions do not establish that every eufy camera has this option.

Use the fresh-clip test only to verify your own device configuration. It is not a multi-model performance test, and results from one camera do not establish behavior across the eufy range.
